Brian W. Haas, PhD.

Brian Haas is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Georgia. He seeks to understand individual differences in social and affective functioning in humans by using a multi-modal approach. He is interested in social decision making in humans, and how culture, personality and social psychological phenomenon interact with one another. His research involves personality assessment, social-behavioral experiments and cultural assessments. The primary objective of this research is to understand the factors contributing to, and associated with, individual differences in the way people think and process their social world. He is also actively engaged in international education and study abroad programs.

Xiaobin Lou, MS.

Xiaobin Lou is a graduate student in the Brain and Behavioral Sciences area at the University of Georgia. He holds a Masters degree in Psychology from Sun Yat-set University in China. Xiaobin is interested in cross-cultural psychology and the association between ecological factors and psychological phenomena. 

Rowena Xia, Ph.D.

Alumni and Collaborators

Rowena Xia is an Assistant Professor at the Concordia College. Dr. Xia graduated from the Brain and Behavioral Sciences area at the University of Georgia in May 2023.  She is interested in understanding the association between culture, language and social cognition.

R. Nick Cochran, Ph.D.

R. Nick Cochran is a User Experience Researcher at Amazon Web Services. He graduated with his PhD. from the lab in 2019.

Kuba Krys, Ph.D.

Kuba Krys is collaborator on many projects. Dr. Krys is an Associate Professor at the Polish Academy of Sciences and is a macropsychologist specializing in large cross-cultural studies covering several dozen countries from all inhabited continents. Cultural sensitivity applied to societal development and well-being is currently his main area of scientific interest. Since 2012, Kuba is working at the Institute of Psychology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, where he currently holds a position of Associate Professor. In 2017–2019, as a Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), he joined Yukiko Uchida’s team at Kyoto University. In his work, Kuba crosses the boundaries the culture imposed on us.
